VISION for the Future
The MISSION of Rails To Trails of Central PA is to acquire, convert, develop, and maintain abandoned railroad corridors and canal towpaths, within available resources and capabilities. The purpose of such is to provide trails for public recreation and education, and for preservation of our heritage and historical significance within its boundaries.
Our VISION for future development is as follows:
w Extend existing trail from Flowing Springs to Canal Basin Park
in Hollidaysburg;
w Acquire and develop a trail connecting Canoe Creek State Park with the
Flowing Springs trailhead;
w Partner or consolidate with the Bells Gap and Logan Valley Electric Line groups;
w Expand eastward.
w Run a successful capital campaign;
w Create an endowment;
w Seek funds from bequests;
w Obtain grant funding;
w Obtain in-kind support;
w Improve public awareness;
w Construct boat launches;
w Provide permanent restroom facilities:
w Renovate Grannas Station property for use as a Visitor's Center;
w Secure National Registration;
w Repair Canal Locks;
w Create historical exhibits;
w Contribute to excellent environmental quality;
w Engage in educational partnerships.
